the Bread Shop, Bukit Damansara

Nestled in a small row of shops, it's easy to miss the Bread Shop on Jalan Setiakasih in Bukit Damansara. In fact, considering how far out the shop lots are, it's easy to miss it by a mile.

Location aside, here's what we had and what we thought of them:

the Bread and Butter Pudding (RM 5.80)-

Fatin says: Nadal ordered this because according to her, she had the most amazing bread pudding in her aunt's house and she wanted to re-live the amazingness. I think the bread pudding hear fell short, though. I was hoping, since it was made with croissants instead of normal bread, that it would be softer and the flaky texture of the croissants would bring out a soft but crunchy texture to the pudding. I found myself a little disappointed. Although the pudding was tasty, it was a bit too dry (I prefer my bread pudding with vanilla sauce which they didn't have). I did, however, like that they had almond flakes baked in the pudding itself.

Lemon Tart (RM 4.10)-

Fatin says: I was in the mood for something sweet when I ordered this. I guess I didn't expect what was coming. To be perfectly honest, it was a good lemon tart. Not awesome but good enough. The tart shell was baked perfectly. Not too garing and not undercooked either. I was hoping it would be a little sweeter. The tangy-ness and zesty-ness of the lemon custard was a bit too much for my taste buds. But if you like sour desserts, well hey, go ahead and try it!

Scones (RM 3.80/pair)-

Fatin says: Okay, so I've always been wary of scones simply because I so RARELY find good scones being sold. These however, were awesome. One of the best I have tasted. These scones are third on my list of "Malaysia's Most Awesome Scones". Heheh :) My criteria for perfect scones include 1. warm (check), 2.buttery (check), 3. medium sized; too small and you'll need more, too big and you'll get pukey (check), 4.appropriate richness (check...well, sort of. Almost there) 5. served with good condiments (check and CHECK!) --good jam (seriously good jam) and quality clotted cream (not even the pre-packed type) so I don't mind that they charge an extra RM 3 for them. I hereby dub these scones, awesome :D

And here's our bill:
